Thermosack starts in safe-for-work mode: golf balls, disco balls and friends hang over the forecast instead. To change it, tap the gear icon at the top right to open Settings, then switch Safe for work mode on or off. You can also pick what hangs in its place.
Or tap Run the setup again at the bottom of Settings to go through the first-launch choices once more.
My monthly reminder didn’t arrive
The reminder comes on the same day each month, at about 7:30pm. Settings shows the exact date under Monthly reminder. Your phone may deliver it a little late to save battery.
- Check notifications are allowed for Thermosack in your phone’s settings.
- On some Android phones (Samsung, Huawei, Xiaomi and others), battery saving can stop reminders. Find Thermosack under Settings → Apps → Battery and choose Unrestricted.
- Turning the reminder off and on again in the app sets it up fresh.
Why does it ask for my location?
To show the weather where you are. It asks for approximate location only (to about 1 km), never precise, and only while the app is open. You can say no and search for a place instead; everything else still works. The privacy policy explains exactly where it goes.
Why doesn’t my town have its own painting?
Nine South African places have their own painting so far: Cape Town, Johannesburg, Pretoria, Durban, the winelands, hills and mountains, the beach, the bushveld and the desert. Everywhere else in the world gets a city park, painted for whatever the weather’s doing. The forecast itself works anywhere.
Does it cost anything?
No. It’s free, with no ads and no account.
How do I delete my data?
Everything the app keeps (your settings, saved places and the last forecast) is stored on your phone only. Uninstall the app, or clear its storage in your phone’s settings, and it’s gone. There’s nothing on any server of ours to delete.
Is the self-check guide medical advice?
No. It’s for awareness: learning what’s normal for you, so you notice if something changes. If you find a lump, swelling or anything that feels different, see a doctor. Most lumps aren’t cancer, but get every one checked. Sudden, severe pain is an emergency: go straight to an emergency unit.
